Why are dance classes such a good thing for kids right now?

Dance classes are great for kids any time and all the time because it helps them get their bodies moving and it creates confidence! I think it’s even more important now, at a time when schools, businesses, parks and theme parks are closed. Dancing adds a fun break in the day and allows children to activate the other side of their brain. It also gives them something to look forward to, a way to connect with some friends, even if it’s virtually right now.

SAN MARCOS, Calif. — Since the pandemic started in March, business has shuffle-ball-changed for San Marcos dance studio “Lovely Leaps.”

Founder, Lisa McCabe, closed her doors due to the health order and took a split leap of faith, moving her dance classes online.

“I told my husband I had no idea what we’re doing, so I was like ‘let’s switch to virtual and tell all of our parents they get to take the class for free’,” said McCabe.

At Lovely Leaps Dance Studio, They’re keeping the rhythm alive through FREE virtual classes and the dream that one day these classes might connect kids across the country and all over the world of creativity-spurning dance. Free online dance classes are offered for children ages six through ten every Thursday, and help kids express themselves, have much-needed creative downtime, and develop key motor skills as they grow more confident in their own bodies.
